Penelitian ini adalah tentang proses perancangan desain pisau lempar yang berangkat dari karakteristik jenis hewan yang dilindungi, dilatari oleh adanya kebutuhan/peluang akan pisau lempar yang memiliki ciri khas yang berbeda dengan pisau lempar yang sudah ada. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menghasilkan Desain Pisau Lempar Elang Jawa yang memiliki nilai kebaruan yang ditawarkan yaitu munculnya karakter ikonik elang jawa dalam wujud pisau lempar. Proses desain dilakukan melalui pendekatan ide, pencarian dokumen visual Elang Jawa, berbagai desain pisau lempar, proses sketsa, pemilihan dan membuat desain sesuai dengan ukuran, mewujudkan kedalam bentuk yang nyata sesuai dengan bahan, melakukan pengetesan teknik  lempar, dan pada akhir proses dihasilkan desain berupa Pisau Lempar Elang Jawa. Dari proses perancangan pisau lempar Elang Jawa ini diharapkan dapat menambahan khasanah bentuk lempar pisau yang memiliki ciri khas yang estetikanya berasal dari kekayaan lingkungan.

Abstract

This research is about the process of designing a throwing knife design that departs from the characteristics of protected animal species. This research is motivated by the existence of a need/opportunity for throwing knives that have different characteristics from the existing throwing knives. The purpose of this study is to produce a Javanese Eagle Throwing Knife Design which has a novelty value to offer, namely the appearance of the iconic Javanese eagle character in the form of a throwing knife. The design process is carried out through the Idea approach, searching for visual documents of the Javanese Eagle, various throwing knife designs, the sketching process, selecting and making the design according to size, embodying it into a real form according to the material, testing throwing techniques, and at the end of the process a design is produced in the form of Javanese Eagle Throwing Knife. From the design process of the Javanese Eagle throwing knife, it is hoped that it can add to the repertoire of throwing knives which have distinctive aesthetics derived from environmental wealth.
