ABSTRAK

Teknologi SMS (short Message Service) sebagai salah satu fasilitas standar yang ada pada telephone seluler  yang terus dikembangkan untuk keperluan pribadi maupun komersial. Pada tugas akhir ini dilakukan perencanaan sistem informasi database nilai Jurusan Elektro ITENAS yang memanfaatkan Short Message Service (SMS). Program aplikasi SMS Autoresponder  ini dibuat dengan menggunakan bahasa pemrograman Visual Basic 6.0. Program aplikasi SMS ini terletak pada komputer server  yang mempunyai ponsel terminal yang terhubung ke komputer server dengan kabel data ke Port Komunikasi Serial (serial comm) pada PC. Program ini akan mencari data dalam database berupa nilai mata kuliah dan informasi mengenai data dosen Jurusan Elektro ITENAS berdasarkan request dari user ke server. Kemudian server  akan membalas pesan dengan informasi sesuai dengan request dari user. Hasil Pengujian sistem  telah sesuai dengan yang diharapkan dan menghasilkan informasi yang diinginkan. Pengujian  ini juga meliputi pengujian faktor waktu akses dengan jumlah database berbeda. Pada jumlah 5 database membutuhkan waktu 10.95 detik dan untuk jumlah 200 database membutuhkan waktu 13,428 detik.

ABSTRACT

Technology SMS (Short Message Service) as one of the existing standard of facilities on the cellular telephone is being developed for personal and commercial purposes. At this final duty conducted the planning of information systems Department of Electrical ITENAS database that utilizes Short Message Service (SMS). SMS Autoresponder application program is created using Visual Basic 6.0 programming language. SMS application program is located on a server computer that has a mobile terminal connected to a computer server with a data cable to the Serial Communications Port (serial comm) on the PC. This program will look for data in the database of the courses and information about the data lecturer Department of Electrical ITENAS based on request from the user to the server. Then the server will reply to the message with the information in accordance with the request from the user. The results of testing the system has been as expected and produce the desired information. This testing also includes testing of the access time factor by the number of different databases. At the 5 database takes 10.95 seconds for the 200 database and takes 13.428 seconds.
